The Fine Woodcrafts, Inc. Story

Jim Houck founded Fine Woodcrafts, Inc. in 1991 after deciding the corporate world was just not for him. Jim decided to follow his passion and began crafting custom wood furniture out of his home. After some success he decided to create a business around this passion and Fine Woodcrafts was born.

After a few years of making furniture, a friend asked Jim if he would be interested in building a custom wood deck on his home. Jim gladly accepted, though he had never built a deck before. He spent countless hours in the library researching methods of construction and completed the deck for his first happy client. A neighbor noticed the work and contracted Jim for another deck soon thereafter. The work spoke for itself, the projects kept getting larger and the rest (as they say) is history.

These days, there is no project big or small that is outside our area of expertise. Our team has over 100 years of combined construction experience and we can make any dream a reality. We have seen it all, but our goal is to make sure that we treat every project just like Jim treated his first piece of custom furniture: with passion, pride and a relentless pursuit of quality.
